Mass Readings 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C Sermon and Homily

“If money’s the god people worship, I’d rather go worship the devil instead.”

Dear Friends in Jesus Christ,

Today, once again, we have gathered to worship our heavenly Father and to listen to His words for our daily spiritual energy. God’s words are so powerful to penetrate into our hearts  and to turn our hearts to such a way that we are able to communicate to our heavenly Father.

Today God wants to speak to us that how he cares for the lost soul on earth and how the heaven will be happy  when a lost soul returns from the life of ignorance. We may be also in the category of lost sheep and lost coin, but God is still searching for us with a torch light to find us and to bring us back to eternal life. Since we are far away from the light of God, and since we are in the utter darkness of evil, God is carefully searching for us to find us to life.

I encourage you all to analyse you life from the moment itself to the past.

1. If you have a better life now, do you feel that our heavenly Father  has blessed you in the past to be better today?

2. If you have grace of God in your hearts today, Do you think that our heavenly Father has brought you out to a new light from darkness in the past?

3. Do you feel that God has done marvelous work in your past life to give you salvation?

If you forget all the good works that God has done in your past life, will your God will be happy or the heaven will be happy?

In the first reading, God has brought the people of Israel out of Egypt to the land of life.

Do not forget your past life

What is the conditions of the people of Israel in Egypt?

They were slaves, they have nothing for themselves, they have no rights for anything, they were torched, they were beaten,  and so on ….

God heard the cry of the people of Israel in Egypt and he delivered them.

When the condition of life of the people of Israel was better they have betrayed God

When God had delivered the people of Israel and brought to the land of milk and honey they have forgotten their past life.

Do not worship material things

When the life is getting better, people forgets that God is the one who has blessed them to be life today. It happened in the life of the Israel also, but God wanted them to come back.

The LORD said to Moses,
“Go down at once to your people,
whom you brought out of the land of Egypt,
for they have become depraved.
They have soon turned aside from the way I pointed out to them,
making for themselves a molten calf and worshiping it,

“I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me” (Deuteronomy 5:6-7)
